Bala Mohammed mourns as Bauchi Assembly lawmaker dies

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has expressed sadness over the demise of a serving lawmaker, Hon. Wanzam Mohammad Zaki, member representing Sakwa Constituency in the State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Budget and Appropriation.

Zaki died early hours of Sunday after “a brief illness”.

A statement by the Governor’s Media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, expressed his “heartfelt condolences” to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Sakwa Constituency, Katagum Emirate Council, the Bauchi State House of Assembly, and all those affected by this painful loss.

According to Gidado, the Governor described late Hon. Mohammad Zaki as a dedicated lawmaker, a humble leader, and a committed public servant whose life was characterised by simplicity, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents and the development of Bauchi State.

“Governor Bala Mohammed notes that throughout his service in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Wanzam distinguished himself through diligence, maturity, and patriotism, particularly in his role as Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation, where he contributed significantly to the formulation and oversight of policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of the people.

“His death is a great loss not only to his family and constituents but also to the entire Bauchi State. We have lost a dependable legislator, a bridge-builder, and a man whose humility and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and citizens alike,” the Governor stated.
