Managing Director of the Bauchi State Radio Corporation (BRC), Umar Muhammad Shira, has been elected as Zonal Chairman, Zone B of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON).
Umar Muhammad Shira was elected unopposed recently according to Yemisi Bamgbose, the Executive Secretary of Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON). In a letter to the new Shira, Bamigbose informed him that he’s been elected unopposed as the Zonal Chairman, Zone B of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON).
Yemisi Bamgbose further wrote: “The outgoing Zonal Chairman and all BON members in the zone have been notified. While congratulating you on the victory, the Secretariat hopes that your tenure will consolidate the achievements of your predecessors and bring unity among BON member stations in your zone,” he added.
Bamigbose said that the outgoing Chairman in conjunction with “the BON Head Office will notify you and other members when and where your inauguration will take place.”
Shira is a Nigerian media professional from Bauchi State who is best known for serving as the Managing Director of the Bauchi Radio Corporation (BRC).
He was appointed Managing Director of the Bauchi Radio Corporation by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed in March 2025.
Shira is an experienced media professional with a strong background in broadcasting and media management. Since his appointment, he has publicly reaffirmed BRC’s commitment to upholding the Nigerian Broadcasting Code and promoting ethical, balanced broadcasting.
