The Bauchi State Ministry of Higher Education and Regional Integration has dismissed as false and misleading a rumour claiming that the Bauchi Campus of Sa’adu Zungur University,(SAZU) located in Yuli, will be merged with the institution’s main campus in Gadau and subsequently shut down.
This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Awwal Sani Waziri, and made available to journalists.
According to the statement, the Ministry described the report as unfounded and the handiwork of mischievous individuals within and outside the institution who are determined to create confusion and pursue selfish interests through the spread of fake information.
The Ministry strongly condemned the circulation of the rumour and urged members of the public to disregard it entirely, stressing that there is no plan by the Bauchi State Government to merge or close the Yuli Campus.
The Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration, Dr. Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango, assured that relevant authorities are already investigating the source of the rumour and will take appropriate legal action against those responsible.
She further disclosed that the government remains committed to the growth and development of the Yuli Campus, with plans underway for the construction of roads, a female hostel, and a perimeter fence to enhance security and provide a more conducive learning environment.
Dr. Kango also commended citizens who alerted the Ministry and called for continued support for government efforts to strengthen higher education across the state.
