The Bauchi State House of Assembly has reaffirmed commitment to strengthen collaboration with traditional institutions to foster peace and security in the state.
The speaker, Abubakar Suleiman, said this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to Misau, Dambam, Gamawa, Katagum and Giade Emirate Councils.
He said the house remained committed to work closely with traditional rulers to promote peace, unity and development in the state.
Suleiman commended the emirs for maintaining harmony in their respective domains, and urged them to support the government’s programmes aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people.
In their separate remarks, the Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman, lauded the cordial relationships between the legislature and the executives.
He appealed for the construction of the Misau – Dagauda Road.
The Emir of Dambam, Alhaji Baffa Idris, pledged continued support for government programmes, particularly in education, healthcare, security and environmental protection.
Aldo, the Emir of Gamawa, Alhaji Abdulkadir Adamu, thanked the legislators for the visit, and pledged the support of his council for initiatives that would foster peace and development.
Similarly, the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Faruk II, and Emir of Giade, Alhaji Muhammad Abdulƙadir, commended the legislators for recognising the roles of traditional institutions in promoting good governance for sustainable development.
Highlights of the visit featured conferment of a chieftaincy title of the “Bauren Giade,” on the speaker by the Emir of Giade.
The royal father also presented a gift of a horse to the speaker.
