The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 2026 Batch B Stream II Orientation Camp in Dazigau, Nangere LGA, Yobe State, has concluded its Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), in-camp training with a colourful exhibition of practical skills.
Corps Members competed in five areas, demonstrating competence in fashion design, food processing, leather work, makeup and bead and wear production.
The event highlighted the scheme’s push for self-reliance and job creation among graduates.
In Fashion Design, Platoon 3 emerged winners, followed by Platoon 1, while Platoons 4 and 5 shared third position. Platoon 9 won Food Processing, with Platoon 7 and Platoon 1 in second and third places.
Platoon 1 topped Leather Work, Platoon 4 came second and Platoon 2 third.
In Makeup, Platoon 3 took first, Platoon 4 second and Platoon 2 third. Platoon 6 won Bead and Wear Work, with Platoon 4 and Platoon 1 placing second and third respectively.
Speaking at the closing, the Head of SAED, Hajiya Maryam Yahaya, appreciated the State Coordinator, management, trainers and Corps Members for their commitment.
The State Coordinator, Mr. Okochi Okpara, who declared the training closed, urged Corps Members to build on the skills acquired.
“Your certificate may get you a job, but in the current Nigeria, you need a skill to sustain yourself before that job comes. Learn now while it is free. These skills can create jobs, generate income, and secure your future”, he advised them.
He added that SAED was designed to shift graduates from seeking white-collar jobs to becoming employers of labour.
The exhibition ended with a call for Corps Members to leverage post-camp SAED training to grow their talents into viable businesses.
