New wife allegedly poisons husband 40 days after wedding

Aisha Musa, a 19-years-old newly wedded wife is currently in police net for allegedly poisoning her husband, the incident, according to Police authority, occurred in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area.

SP Nafiu Habib, the Spokesperson of the Command said that the incident happened on 12th August, 2026 at about 3:15hpm, he said the suspect, who is said to be a bride of about 40 days, allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal.

“Subsequently, at about 7:40pm on the same day, a distress call was received from an anonymous lady residing at Wunti Dada Area, Bauchi, reporting the incident to the Police. Operatives of ‘C’ Division Tafawa Balewa Estate mobilised to the scene. Thereafter, the victim was immediately evacuated and rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is currently receiving medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition,” he said.

Nafiu said that the suspect who has been arrested voluntarily made a confessional statement admitting the offence.

Police said that an empty bottle suspected to contain poison and remnants of the food were recovered and duly registered as exhibits.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for discreet and thorough investigation. The suspect would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
