The running mate to Governor Seyi Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Progressive Movement (APM) Bala Adamu Ibrahim has withdrawn from the race.
Ibrahim, who disclosed this in a withdrawal letter addressed to the National Chairman of the APM dated 5th August 2026 titled “Voluntary withdrawal from participation in the 2027 general election under the platform of Allied Peoples Movement APM”.
The letter reads, “Having previously been nominated as the Vice-Presidential Candidate under the platform of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in the forthcoming 2027 General Election, hereby formally notify the party of my voluntary withdrawal from the electoral process.”
Ibrahim explained, “This decision has been made freely, voluntarily, and without any form of coercion, undue influence, or inducement from any person or group. Accordingly, I no longer wish to participate in the party’s nomination process or to remain the vice-presidential candidate for the above-mentioned party.
“I respectfully request the party to take note of my withdrawal and to take all necessary administrative steps to remove my name from its records as a candidate for the said election. Please find attached to this letter an affidavit sworn to by me in line with the provision of section 31 of the Electoral Act, 2026,” he said.
Ibrahim expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity afforded to him and wished the party success in the forthcoming general elections.
