The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Yobe State, Baba Malam Wali, has pledged to build on the legacies of Governor Mai Mala Buni if elected in 2027.
Wali made the pledge on Thursday at the Yobe North APC rally held at Nguru to receive House of Assembly candidates who contested under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2027 election in Machina and Nguru Local Government Areas, who formally defected to the APC.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters, Wali said his administration would continue and expand Buni’s policies and programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of the people of Yobe.
“I will build on what Governor Buni has started. His policies on education, healthcare, infrastructure and empowerment have changed Yobe. We will not abandon them, we will continue with them,” Wali said.
He commended the defectors for joining the ruling party and urged the people of Yobe North to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Earlier, the state APC Chairman, Mohammed Gadaka, said the defection of the opposition candidates has reinforced APC’s dominance in Yobe North, declaring that APC remains the only party capable of delivering good governance.
Gadaka called on party faithful to vote for President Bola Tinubu, Baba Mallam Wali and all National and State Assembly candidates of the party in 2027.
In his remarks, Governor Mai Mala Buni, who was represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, welcomed the defectors and called on supporters to vote for all APC candidates.
The event was graced by APC National Assembly and State Assembly members, commissioners, special advisers, local government chairmen and other party executives.
