The Management of a privately owned indigenous cable television Azama TV has pledged to promote professionalism, cultural promotion amid concerns about Artificial Intelligence (AI) which is ravaging the media industry.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Azama TV who is also the Commissioner of Housing and Environment, Hon. Danlami Kawule said this yesterday while marking one year anniversary of the station at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International conference Center.
He highlighted the challenge of linking up on satellite at ‘free to air’. He added that the station has grown from its pioneer stage to expansion. “To have Azama TV on satellite wasn’t an easy task, but we are happy that today we are here to celebrate success with our stakeholders, our audiences and partners,” he said.
Kawule expressed gratitude to broadcast veteran, Alhaji Halilu Ahmed Getso, for his immense contributions to journalism, and commended partners and advertisers for their patronage, assuring them of better service delivery.
He said the station has been monitoring audience feedback, adding that its programmes, including Wildlife, Barka da Safiya and news bulletins, have gained wide acceptance, particularly among women who also show preference for entertainment content.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, commended the management of Azama TV for providing content that aligns with the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Bauchi State.
The Governor, who congratulated the station on its milestone, urged the management to strictly adhere to the ethics of journalism, noting that television remains a vital channel for educating, informing and entertaining society.
Media scholar, Prof Umaru Pate was the Chairman of the day. Media industry players and the National President of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Alhassan Yahaya and other stakeholders were in attendance.
The management honoured Governor Bala Mohammed, Commissioner of Information; Mr. Shehu Usman Shehu, Media Adviser to the Governor; Mukhtar Gidado and others in addition to staffers recognition.
