JALINGO — The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday flagged off a statewide free medical and surgical outreach across Taraba State to mark the 58th birthday of its National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe.
The five-day health intervention, operating under the party’s Renewed Hope agenda, began at the First Referral Hospital in Sunkani, Ardo Kola Local Government Area.
It will run through August 7, 2026, targeting vulnerable and underserved populations across all three senatorial districts in the state.
Party officials stated that the program will culminate in a formal flag-off ceremony on August 8 at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Jalingo, the state capital.
The party is executing the campaign in partnership with the Taraba State Ministry of Health and the Libertad Health Foundation.
The health department has deployed medical teams to six designated health facilities state-wide.
They include “Northern Senatorial District: First Referral Hospital, Sunkani (Ardo Kola LGA) and General Hospital, Bambur (Karim Lamido LGA).
“Central Senatorial District: General Hospital, Bali and General Hospital, Gembu.
“Southern Senatorial District: Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari and General Hospital, Takum.”
The outreach offers free medical consultations and diagnostic screenings.
Additionally, the team provides essential medicines, emergency care, and health education free of charge.
The surgical procedures would be subsidized.
Organizers stated that the initiative aims to address immediate healthcare shortages and ease financial burdens on low-income residents.
