The Gombe State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 613 regular and special marshals, 14 operational vehicles, and one tow truck ahead of the Eid-El-Adha celebrations.

The deployment, approved by the Sector Commander, CC Samson Kaura, is aimed at ensuring a crash-free celebration and enhancing the free flow of traffic during the festive period.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Education Officer, SRC Janet Kassa, and made available to journalists in Gombe.

According to the statement, the special patrol operation commenced on May 25 and will run through May 31, 2026.

Janet Kassa explained that the deployed personnel would be engaged in traffic control, rescue services, clearing road obstructions, and sensitising motorists on the need to drive cautiously to avoid road traffic crashes.

“The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is the lead agency for traffic management and administration in Nigeria. The Corps’ primary role is to minimise traffic crashes on the road and educate road users generally,” the statement noted.

She added that as Muslim faithful across the country celebrate Eid-El-Kabir, the corps has a responsibility to ensure the free flow of traffic nationwide.

According to her, Gombe State is expected to witness increased human and vehicular movement during the Sallah celebration, a development that has heightened the command’s operational activities.

“It is in the light of the anticipated movements that the command made the deployment,” she stated.

The command said operatives and logistics had been strategically deployed to check traffic violations and prevent gridlocks during the celebration.

The statement listed common traffic offences to include speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, mixed loading, use of mobile phones while driving, fake number plates, and route violations.

“These violations often lead to serious and fatal road traffic crashes,” Kassa stressed.

The Sector Commander, CC Samson Kaura, urged residents of Gombe State to obey traffic regulations, avoid overloading and speeding, and refrain from using phones while driving.

He also advised passengers and other road users to take responsibility for their safety and avoid distracted driving.

Kaura wished residents of the state a peaceful and crash-free Eid-El-Kabir celebration.
