The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has convened stakeholders from across Yobe State in a bid to forestall farmer-herder disputes as the rainy season progresses.
National President of KACRAN, Khalil Muhammad Bello, hosted representatives of all 17 local government councils in Damaturu on Saturday.
The meeting drew participants from security agencies, traditional rulers, government bodies and KACRAN chapters statewide.
During the meeting, Bello said the gathering was part of an annual routine aimed at tackling potential friction early.
“Right from land preparation, we make sure preventive steps are taken. That is how we stop problems before they start during cultivation and harvest,” he said.
He disclosed that KACRAN is currently carrying out community-level awareness visits across the state.
Beyond peace advocacy, he noted the visits are also encouraging members to finalise online registration and keep their voter cards safe for the 2027 elections.
“Based on reports from our members, we are mid-way into the season and have not recorded any serious issues. We will keep working to ensure Yobe stays peaceful till the season ends,” he said.
He thanked the Yobe State Government, NEDC, L-Press, traditional councils, local leaders and security operatives for their backing.
“The support from government and security agencies has been critical in maintaining harmony,” Bello added.
