Nigerian-Born Doctor Appointed Paediatric Chief at Bulgarian Hospital

Nigerian-born medical doctor, Dr. Bello Mode Dange has been appointed Head of the Paediatric Department at Kavarna General Hospital in Bulgaria.

Dr. Mode hails from Dange/Shuni Local Government Area in Sokoto State, Nigeria.

He studied medicine at the Medical University of Varna, Bulgaria, graduating in 2008.

He has lived and worked in Bulgaria for over 20 years. In 2021, he completed his specialization in pediatrics at University Hospital St. Marina in Varna and qualified as a consultant pediatrician.

With this appointment, Dr. Dange became the first African to head the paediatric department at the hospital.

The appointment was announced by the management of Kavarna General Hospital.

The reports cited Dr. Dange’s extensive experience and commitment to pediatric care as key factors in the decision.

Colleagues at the hospital described Dr. Mode as a dedicated clinician whose work over the past two decades has contributed significantly to child healthcare in the region.

The development has been welcomed by members of the Nigerian community in Bulgaria and the wider diaspora as another example of Nigerians excelling in the medical profession abroad.

The appointment of Dr. Mode adds to the growing list of Nigerian doctors occupying senior clinical and leadership positions in Europe and beyond.

Dr. Mode is also known for his philanthropy. He provides free medical services and covers the medical bills of some patients in Dange/Shuni Local Government Area.
