Ex-Minister Sambo backs Tinubu for second term, urges patience with economic reforms

Former Minister of Transportation and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, endorsing him for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sambo, who served as the Taraba State Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 polls, made the declaration while interacting with journalists at his country home in Jalingo.

Addressing the economic realities facing the country, the former minister acknowledged the current hardships and high cost of living confronting ordinary Nigerians but maintained that the tough reforms introduced by the present administration are vital, long-overdue measures required to lay a solid foundation for sustainable prosperity.

He argued that abandoning the current fiscal and structural changes midway would jeopardize the nation’s economic future, urging Nigerians to support a second term for President Tinubu to enable the full consolidation of his reform agenda.

Sambo said: “We are not oblivious to the feedback from the common man and the general increase in cost of living. However, we believe that the sacrifices being made today are necessary for enduring economic and financial stability.

“Let us allow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu consolidate the path of economic recovery and growth with a second term in office. Nigerians can rest assured that it will get better. I firmly believe that the reforms, coupled with increased spending in infrastructure projects, will ultimately translate into long-term prosperity.”

The APC chieftain also stressed the need for political stakeholders and party loyalists to improve public communication regarding the scope and long-term benefits of government policies, ensuring that ordinary citizens understand the rationale behind the administration’s trajectory.

“Undoubtedly, PBAT is working, but we need men and women who will translate the impact of his work into simple terms that the common man on the street can understand. It is high time all of us joined hands with President Tinubu to build our country,” he added.

Sambo expressed optimism regarding the ruling party’s electoral prospects ahead of 2027, predicting that the APC will record resounding victories across the federation as the dividends of current infrastructural and macroeconomic interventions become more apparent.
