…seek stronger protection for women, girls and children
CHILD is GOLD Foundation (CIGF), in collaboration with SISIWACHI, has embarked on a joint advocacy visit to the newly established Family Court in Bauchi State as part of activities under the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership (RWVL) Project.
The advocacy visit was aimed at promoting public awareness of the Family Court, strengthening understanding of its mandate and operations, and improving access to justice for women, girls, children and families, particularly vulnerable groups.
The engagement also sought to foster stronger collaboration between the judiciary, civil society organisations and community stakeholders in addressing issues affecting women and children.

Key areas of advocacy included the promotion of gender equality and the prevention and response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), prevention of child marriage and child abuse, protection of girls’ rights and best interests, and ensuring accessible and responsive justice for vulnerable women and children.
Speaking during the engagement, stakeholders emphasised the importance of creating greater awareness within communities about the Family Court and the types of cases it handles. Increased community knowledge, they noted, would help survivors and families understand available justice mechanisms and referral pathways.
The organisations expressed their commitment to working closely with the Family Court and other relevant stakeholders to strengthen protection systems and ensure that women and children can access justice without unnecessary barriers.
The advocacy further highlighted the importance of strong partnerships in building safer communities, with the participating organisations looking forward to sustained collaboration with the Family Court in promoting justice, protection and the rights of women and children across Bauchi State.
