TY Danjuma’s Nephew, Dinshiya Joins Taraba Governorship Race

A nephew of elder statesman and former Minister of Defence, Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), Hon. David Usman Dinshiya, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Taraba State under the platform of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Hon. Dinshiya, who made the declaration during a public event in Jalingo, said his ambition was driven by the desire to restore hope and unlock the economic potential of the state.

“Taraba can do better. Taraba must do better. And together, we will make Taraba better,” he said.

He said his decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders, traditional rulers, youths, women and party faithful across the state.

He lamented the level of poverty, unemployment and poor infrastructure in the state despite its abundant natural and human resources.

“Too many young people remain unemployed, too many farmers lack the support they need to thrive, and too many roads remain deplorable and impassable,” he stated.

Hon. Dinshiya promised that, if elected, his administration would focus on agriculture, road construction, healthcare, education and job creation.

According to him, agriculture would remain a major priority because of its importance to the state’s economy.

“We will transform agriculture from subsistence to prosperity, through mechanisation, improved access to inputs, storage facilities and agricultural financing,” he said.

The governorship aspirant also pledged to improve healthcare delivery and infrastructure across the state.

“We will embark on a road construction revolution to integrate all our communities into a grid of efficient roads,” he added.

Hon. Dinshiya called on residents of the state to support a movement for unity, progress and shared prosperity.

“This election is not merely about choosing a governor. It is about choosing the future and building a Taraba that works for everyone,” he said.

The governorship aspirant is the former pioneer State Coordinator of the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative and pioneer Coordinator of the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
