A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Comrade Sabo Mohammed, has said the party did not conduct any credible primary election in the state, warning that internal divisions could weaken its electoral chances if not addressed.
Speaking on Albarka Radio Bauchi’s programme “A Idon Makwarwa” Mohammed said the process was not transparent at any level.
“First, there is no Muslim or Christian you can give a Qur’an or Bible to swear with it that the APC held a primary election in Bauchi State,” he stated.
“If anyone disputes this, let them hold a Qur’an or Bible and show it in their ward, from the elections for the House of Representatives, Senate, and State Assembly that a proper election was conducted,” he said.
Mohammed said that the problems within the party became clearer when the allocation of results and the handling of internal procedures were examined.
He argued that the situation calls for a deliberate effort to review and correct the system.
He added that the crisis extended beyond the primaries, noting that some senior politicians in the party had also voiced dissatisfaction, with some leaving or opposing the process.
According to him, the APC must make a concerted effort to unite its members.
“Those who left, those who remain, and those who are in dispute, all of them must be brought back to the reconciliation table,” he said.
“No opposition party would want to see you running for office while your own party is divided.” The party chieftain said.
Mohammed concluded that without genuine reconciliation, the party risks being weakened in future elections, and that only reconciliation and fairness can restore its strength in Bauchi State.
