The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Taraba State University (TSU) Chapter, has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Taraba State Government to implement the Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allowance (CONTTA) agreement or face a total, comprehensive, and indefinite strike action.
The ultimatum was contained in a communique issued at the end of the union’s emergency congress meeting held on November 5, 2026, and signed by the Branch Chairman, Comrade Bitrus Joseph Ajibauka, and Secretary, Comrade Offen Stephen Noseh.
The association expressed profound disappointment over Governor Agbu Kefas’s failure to actualize the agreement despite numerous committee meetings and unfulfilled administrative promises, noting that non-teaching staff have exercised considerable patience without any positive outcome from the state government.
SSANU pointed out that the agreement has already been successfully implemented in several other state-owned tertiary institutions across the country, including Adamawa State University, Mubi; Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi; Gombe State University, Gombe; Nasarawa State University, Keffi; Kwara State University, Malete; Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti; and Osun State University, Osogbo.
The union maintained that Taraba State’s continued delay is totally unacceptable and gave the government a two-week window from the date of the communique to address their demands and avert an industrial shutdown.
