A septuagenarian man, Hamza Yahaya in Magama Gumau in Toro local council area of Bauchi State has been arrested by Police after he allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl.
According to a Police statement on Saturday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib explained that the incident was reported on Friday 15th May, 2026 at about 09:30pm by the father of the victim.
The father told the Police that earlier Friday, at about 4:00pm, Yahaya, 70 years old, lured the minor to his hideout within the area and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
“During interrogation, the suspect denied the recent allegation but voluntarily confessed to having sexually assaulted the victim on three previous occasions at the same location.
“Both the victim and the suspect were taken to the General Hospital, Toro, for medical examination and treatment. The suspect has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Bauchi, for further investigation and prosecution,” Nafiu stated.
