The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a housewife Hauwa’u Haruna, 33 years old for allegedly hitting her co-wife with a pestle that resulted in her death in Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate, Bauchi metropolis.
According to Police Spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the incident was reported on Sunday 27th September, 2026 to the C-Division, Bauchi. He said that Police gathered that there was a domestic incident between two co-wives residing in the same household belonging to their husband.
“Our preliminary investigation revealed that the second wife, one Hauwa’u Haruna, 33 years old, allegedly acting under hallucinations, armed herself with a pestle and struck the first wife, one Jamila Adamu, 43 years old, on the forehead. Consequently, the victim fell unconscious.
He said further that the scene was documented, and the victim was taken to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where she was certified dead. “Her corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” he said.
Police said that the suspect has been arrested while the Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Sani-Omolori has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
