Leaders of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State have resigned their positions and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP leaders announced their defection on Saturday morning during a solidarity visit to the APC governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna.

The leaders include the PDP Zonal Chairman, Gombe Central, Hon. Muhammad Haladu; the PDP Chairman of Yamaltu Deba LGA, Hon. Adamu Alhaji Abdu; Assistant Organising Secretary, Alhaji Idi Mai Fachi, and Assistant Publicity Secretary, Hon. Adamu Ibrahim Nono.

Speaking during the visit, the former PDP leaders said their decision to leave the party was due to their satisfaction with the developmental projects executed by the incumbent governor, Inuwa Yahaya, in Yamaltu Deba and across Gombe State.

They also said the emergence of Dr. Jamilu Gwamna as the APC governorship candidate convinced them that the state needs a leader the people trust, describing him as one.

“The PDP failed to ensure justice among its members. A party that could not guarantee internal justice cannot deliver justice to the people of Gombe”, they said.

Responding, Gwamna, welcomed them to the APC and promised to work with them in his electioneering.

According to him, their defection to APC was a great development adding that as political leaders, they would add significant value to his team.
