Bauchi State Sector Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), has appealed to drivers, particularly commercial vehicle drivers plying the ever busy Bauchi – Jos highway to reduce their speed in order to avoid crashes.
The appeal was made by the Sector Commander, FRSC RS12.1, Bauchi State Command, CC Caleb Luka, while speaking with Journalists on the sideline of the 2026 International Customers’ Week celebration.
According to him, “The challenges I’ve observed so far since I reported to Bauchi as Sector Commander is that drivers in Bauchi, especially the drivers driving along the Bauchi – Jos Road, are seriously overspeeding.
“So, my appeal is that, please, we should stay away from that, drive according to the approved speed limits, that will reduce carnage on our roads. The best journey is to arrive at destinations safely, not so fast.”
He added that the tipper truck drivers within the town are careless in driving. Urging drivers to be cautious in driving within the town to avoid unnecessary crashes leading to death of innocent people.
He also said that the traffic situation in Bauchi State is enormous because of the number of vehicles plying the road being the link State to three subregions of North-East, North-Central and North-West.
According to him, “But however, as enormous as it is, there is a very good road network that warrants a good driving culture in Bauchi State. So I will expect the drivers to take advantage of the good road network and the enlightenment to work in favor of the good driving environment that we have.”
At the Customer Service Week celebration, Caleb Luka said,”It is an international occasion that gives an opportunity for the Corps to interact with our customers. It also gives an opportunity for the Corps to strengthen our relationship with our stakeholders and customers generally.”
According to him, “We in Bauchi State Sector, as a Corps, we are not an exception, and we have just concluded ours now. We have interacted with the traffic stakeholders and have understood each other. We will serve better in the areas identified.”
