The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Yobe has a new leadership with the appointment of Hassan Owuna as the state’s 15th substantive Commandant.

Owuna formally took charge on Monday during a handover ceremony at the NSCDC headquarters in Damaturu.

Shortly after signing the handover documents, the new Commandant said he would immediately begin an inspection of the command’s armoury as well as all operational vehicles and motorcycles.

“The exercise is to ensure transparency and accountability in the management of government assets,” he stated.

Owuna urged personnel to maintain unity and teamwork, stressing that collaboration is key to safeguarding public facilities across the state.

“I appeal to you to extend to me the same cooperation and synergy you accorded my predecessor,” he told officers.

He further noted that his tenure would focus on upholding discipline and professionalism in service delivery.

The outgoing Commandant, Bala Habule Disa, who served in an acting capacity, thanked officers and men for their support during his time in office.

“I appreciate the support given to me and I ask that you give even greater support to the incoming Commandant,” Disa said.

Following the ceremony, Owuna also met with Area Commanders and members of the Command’s management team for discussions on operational matters and staff welfare.
